Q&A Screener FAQ

Legal Disclaimer: Statements regarding this  device and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition

What is the Q&A Screener and how does it work?

Touchless, fully automated, with known individual tracking, this is our interactive question & answer station  used to determine if an individual is igh risk based on a self assessment of current and historic interactions and health conditions. It should reside outside of an  entrance in a spot safe for tech equipment, isolated from other stations and in a low-volume, uncrowded location. It consists of a display  mounted on a  stand, approximately 48” in height, as well as a device display, a camera, a microphone, and a speaker. The Screen displays an attract loop requesting the individual to step forward to answer questions. The optional optical camera can be used to detect their presence, or a simple wake up command like “Hello”, initiating the session. If a known individual (a registered visitor or an employee), the individual’s  preferred language is used. The Question/Answer session starts, ‘reading’ out loud the question, highlighting the words as it does, then waits for an answer. Based on results, the  individual is shown a GREEN thumbs up to move on to the step/station or RED halt symbol, where a message is displayed to call “xxx.xxxx” for more instructions or whatever workflow is specified.

What happens to the data and how do I ensure compliance?

If an employee, results are kept and associated with their record per your HR and data
policy--it’s very flexible to support any workflow requirements.. If a visitor, results are
kept in a record per your policy as well. At minimum, data is kept through the Screening
Process completion.

What makes integrating it as part of the In Reality platform, even smarter?

Indeed, thermal camera technology is not new—there are certainly other solutions similar to the Thermal Mirror from a hardware perspective. They can all take a quick temp and indicate pass/go results via light or a short selection of audio response. They cannot, however, perform the advanced feature/benefits we make possible by integrating it with the InReality software platform. With the Thermal Mirror, you get the simple standalone contactless solution plus

  • Recognize
    • employees or persons of interest from a facial database, then create event log with store and forward from our Cloud Data Lake for an audit compliance logs
  • Customize the CX design
    • To reflect brand and corporate identity, design language, and contextually relevant content
  • Create anomaly alerts based
    • on deep learning and AI algorithms
  • Get results in real-time
    • based on metric views you choose, then test for optimal user experience
  • Network, update and synchronize in unison
    • Across all installation points
  • Quickly and easily connect
    • with other platform capabilities for a comprehensive view on multiple analytics

Can I specify the questions?

Yes. We suggest that you work with your HR and Legal teams to ensure that they are
suiting your specific needs, as well as the process and workflows for handling visitors and
employees that do not pass.

How can I ensure accuracy?

People can be lazy with these kinds of screening tools. Therefore, we recommend that
you follow our recommendation of asking the questions with verbiage that makes it
difficult to run through them and answer on autopilot. We’d be happy to provide some
template examples. We also have the ability to “mix up’ the order of the questions, again
to prevent people getting into a rut. An additional technique is flipping the question’s
format to require a ‘Yes’ instead of a ‘No,’ and vice versa.

I’m concerned about privacy... any considerations to be mindful of?

The policies are still shaping up around all of this, but at this time, the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has confirmed that, during the pandemic, employers may take temperatures prior to office entry and ask COVID-19 related health questions
due to the direct threat that the pandemic poses to employee health and safety. The EEOC’s pandemic preparedness guidance confirms this.

Please explain the difference between the standalone option and the mobile one.

The mobile version works via a few methods, the first by sending an SMS to each employee’s smartphone that displays a link which is set to expire within a predefined amount of time. The second is via an app that pops up a notification before their shift begins. With each, the link is unique to each employee which, when it is activated, identifies them during their questionnaire session--which is shown on a browser page. If they pass, they see a green thumbs up available from the link until it expires. If they fail, a message is sent to your CRC advising of which individual failed the questionnaire and the details to follow up on. What makes this version so handy is that it then becomes a quick pass’ of sorts. The employee can show it to a bus driver or security attendant for frictionless access. They can skip right ahead to the Thermal Mirror station to get a temp scan and either get their “Clear to Go’ sticker off the Results Station or show their green results code to enter safely. To note, the link works on a global scale, and you can send different questions to different people and/or locations.

Thermal Mirror FAQ’s

Legal Disclaimer: Statements regarding this temperature device and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition

What is thermal technology and how does it work?

It functions by a heat sensor that detects temperature by recognizing and capturing different levels of infrared light. This light is invisible to the naked eye but can be felt as heat. All objects emit infrared radiation; a thermal camera captures the infrared radiation from what’s in front of it, creates an electronic image about the temperature differences and then reports the results. It became popular for temperature detection in 2003 due to the SARS epidemic, but it was prohibitively expensive for mainstream use. That’s now changed.

Is it a medical device?

No, it is not a medical-grade product. It's a high-end, non-medical temperature inspection product for non-contact temperature screening in public areas. By positioning the Thermal Mirror as a temperature inspection device, not a medical diagnostic device, consumer confidence can be secured without going through the unwieldy process of garnering FDA approval. *To note, Amazon and other similar companies have started using it as a screening method at their facilities, an indicator that it will soon pass muster for the mainstream.

Can I easily document the temperature result for every recognized person/employee’s record?

The Employee Compliance Module provides access to all historic employee compliance and audit records, either as a PDF report or to be ingested into the client HR system (additional development cost may be required).

Should I have privacy concerns?

COVID-19 has opened the door to many new norms that have yet to be explored by privacy mandates or legal teams. Our solution requires that an image is taken to indicate the thermal results. It does not store those images, but in the case of employee tracking, it does associate it with a facial database. We recommend users establish a public-facing privacy policy and notify the visitor. For employees, they should work with both legal and HR teams to establish a disclosure document with transparency regarding image and data use and agreement to terms
